What if Windows Phone had launched prior to the iPhone

Timing

As pointless as it may seem to think this way I couldn’t help but swap the release dates of the iPhone and Windows Phone 7, wandering if the roles would have changed. Apple released the iPhone in June of 2007 showing the world how simple design could get things done. Fast forward to November of 2010 and look at Windows Phone 7. While the interface is nothing alike you have to admit there is a striking resemblance on how they both launched. Each company taking a risk in bringing something new and innovative into the mobile smartphone market. This brings us to the question at hand. Had Microsoft launched Windows Phone 7 back in June…

Your social voice, can actually be your voice

audioboo

We hide behind our keyboards, smartphones, and socially connected devices shouting to the world like we have something important to say. We do this in hopes that people will listen and interactive with our thoughts and ideas. One big problem with this is people tend to take on a different personality when hiding behind text. For instance an identity online may be perceived as being a know it all, always making snide remarks when it reality the person is a very kind human being face to face. People tend to care a bit more when the media being presented is more personal. This is exactly what AudioBoo, a social service using voice recordings, plans to…

If you have ever wanted a telephoto lens for your iPhone now is your time

You may look like a complete dork with this setup but who really cares about that right? I’m anxious to get my hands on one of these to see how the real world performance stacks up. Amplify’d from www.intomobile.com Photojojo gives the following description: Here’s how it works: each lens comes with a sleek, matte black iPhone case that you twist the lens onto. To compose your shot just twist the grip on the lens’ manual focus ring to make it sharp. Then snap! When you aren’t using the lens you can just leave your nifty new case on and slip the lens in your pocket (try that with a 500mm Sigma). It’s a lens…

Why not lets name something else HD – Introducing HD Voice

These days it seems that if you don’t have a product with the prefix HD or the suffix 3D you just aren’t in the “IN” crowd. Regardless of what you may think about the HD prefix it typically signifies quality, improved or enhanced in some way.Orange is announcing a solution that enhances your voice quality over their networks, they call this technology HD voice. What this means to the average Joe is that you will be able to understand your callee with little to no background noise, having a much clearer tone. Sounds great right, well there is a catch. In order to use this new technology you will need a new mobile phone that…

Nokia updates the social app with new features

As many of you know I am not a fan of the Social app on current Symbian phones. In the past numerous problems I have encountered while using the application have pushed me away from using it. One example would be launching the application to find my account has been signed off over and over again. Nokia has now released an update to the Social app with several new features that in my opinion should have been in place before going live with it in the first place. Putting this all aside, starting with a clean slate, I’m willing to give it another shot to see if things have improved. I will let you know…

Nokia C7 controls a BMW

Amplify’d from www.engadget.com At CES and the NAIAS in Detroit this year we saw ever more powerful smartphone integration, but nothing like this. Nokia Asia teamed up with two Chinese coders, An Jiaxuan and an unnamed friend, to whip up a C7 app that controls a BMW 1 Series. They said it took them only 20 days to get things ready but we’re thinking adding the remote controls to the car itself must have added some further time to that. The result is in the video below, a short test drive that Nokia promises “isn’t special effects.” See for yourself and let us know if you spot a meatbag driver hiding in there somewhere. Read…

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Gets Camera Video Demo

URL:  http://www.intomobile.com/2011/01/18/sony-ercisson-xper… Sony Ericsson has to build back up their reputation for stellar hardware and cutting edge user experiences. The Xperia Arc is their opportunity to show us if the old SE is on its way back. September 2010 Sony Ericsson announced they would no longer be supporting the Symbian operating system, a platform they released several devices such as the Satio over the years. Dropping Symbian and going full steam ahead with Android was a smart decision due to the mass market appeal Android is having. Symbian is a extremely capable mobile OS and has a lot to offer however lets be honest here, the experience just isn’t there with its current release. With…

T-Mobile Dell Streak expected February 2nd?

T-Mobile “will” launch the Dell Streak on February 2nd, 2011, or so the leaked document suggest. As much as I like this device I don’t trust Dell in the mobile market for what I feel to be good reason. They continue to put out outdated software and tend to lag behind getting firmware updates to their users. Having this in mind I feel it might affect the decision of some consumers whom have been burned in the past by Dell. What about you think? Will you buy a Dell Streak?
