I will respond to those that asked about why I hate the Galaxy Nexus as soon as possible.

Your social voice, can actually be your voice

audioboo

We hide behind our keyboards, smartphones, and socially connected devices shouting to the world like we have something important to say. We do this in hopes that people will listen and interactive with our thoughts and ideas. One big problem with this is people tend to take on a different personality when hiding behind text. For instance an identity online may be perceived as being a know it all, always making snide remarks when it reality the person is a very kind human being face to face. People tend to care a bit more when the media being presented is more personal. This is exactly what AudioBoo, a social service using voice recordings, plans to…

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Gets Camera Video Demo

URL:  http://www.intomobile.com/2011/01/18/sony-ercisson-xper… Sony Ericsson has to build back up their reputation for stellar hardware and cutting edge user experiences. The Xperia Arc is their opportunity to show us if the old SE is on its way back. September 2010 Sony Ericsson announced they would no longer be supporting the Symbian operating system, a platform they released several devices such as the Satio over the years. Dropping Symbian and going full steam ahead with Android was a smart decision due to the mass market appeal Android is having. Symbian is a extremely capable mobile OS and has a lot to offer however lets be honest here, the experience just isn’t there with its current release. With…

Motorola ATRIX to arrive March 1st?

After playing with the ATRIX 4G at CES this year I am excited to see what it brings to the table when it comes to Android based smartphones. I tend to not get excited about specs alone on any phone but this model stands out as being one that will shine. The ATRIX itself is an impressive phone but the real added value comes when you add the “optional” accessories such as the laptop dock as well as the multimedia dock. If you have ever wanted to fully utilize your phones hardware, this phone, with the added accessories, may be the one you have been waiting for. The real question is will consumers pony up…

Life with Android – Day 2

Day 2 – Growing more accustomed to the Android operating system things are moving smoothly now. On day one we discussed how important email was to me, that given my love for the BlackBerry email solution, it was now time to investigate this on the Android platform. Armed with five email accounts, two Google ( Gmail ), one corporate exchange, and two IMAP business accounts, let us see if Android could be a viable replacement for my loved BlackBerry. Underneath first with Google’s own Gmail service, we look into the setup and experience. Setup, or lack thereof is one of the easiest I have experienced. This being due to the fact that upon entering your…

Life with Android – Day 1

Android has grown over the years proving to be a very popular smartphones solution. We now have several choices when it comes to smartphones. Depending on the requirements there is no clear cut wrong or right answer, it is a matter of choosing what works best for your use case. Some prefer simple interfaces with less customization while others don’t mind sacrificing user experience to gain more customization. In the end forget the hype, forget the specs, find what works for you and stick with it. When it comes to email and productivity I choose BlackBerry. Having a BlackBerry attached to my side gives me a feeling of being comfortably in touch, having faith I…

Trying out life with Android

As many of you know I typically use a BlackBerry device to manage the business side of my life. From email, contacts, calendar, and task management I have relied on BlackBerry for the simple reason that it works well and is trouble free. I will be the first to admit that there is a gap that BlackBerry cannot fill. When it comes to media, being consumption or production, BlackBerry is usually my last choice. For this very reason I carry a second phone, usually the iPhone 4 or Nokia N8, both which fill this gap nicely. Recently I have had the oportunity to use the T-Mobile G2, which if you aren’t aware, is an Android…

Mobile market saturation makes dumb consumers

Turned on the radio lately, then surely you have heard at least one commercial touting the latest and greatest smartphone from one of the self promoted “fastest” networks around. It seems that we can’t go a month without a new model coming out that supposedly trumps all previous models. Sure, this is how marketing works but in the process what are we telling the consumers about our products? What if every month a new type of ketchup came out claiming to be better than the last revision. I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t have a clue what type of ketchup to purchase much less which one I actually liked to eat. One might…

BlackBerry, Android and where iOS fits for me

As a BlackBerry user I fully understand where Taylor is coming from. Unlike Taylor I gave up on Blackberry around 4 years ago to move to the Symbian platform as my primary device. At the time BlackBerry didn’t have cameras on their phones and the software selection was limited and not overly impressive. I needed great email support however I was willing to sacrifice that for one that would suffice until something better came along. To make a long story short years passed and I finally purchased a new BlackBerry and I don’t plan it leaving my side anytime soon. I will be the first to admit that BlackBerry isn’t for everyone. In the mobile…

Updating your firmware on Vodafone can potentially void your warranty

If you want to upset several of your account holders the best way to do it is to hold them back from something that people on other services can freely have. There are of course two sides of every story, this instance is no different. Android in many carriers eyes is a cash cow. Users are standing in line to purchase the new handsets because of the new flashy operating system. The problem is that with the growth of the mobile market carriers are having a hard time keeping up with the massive growth in required resources. To help manage this carriers typically have their own “approved” versions of firmware for each device on their…
