Life with Android – Day 2

Day 2 - Growing more accustomed to the Android operating system things are moving smoothly now. On day one we discussed how important email was to me, that given my love for the BlackBerry email solution, it was now time to investigate this on the Android platform. Armed with five email accounts, two Google ( Gmail ), one corporate exchange, and two IMAP business accounts, let us see if Android could be a viable replacement for my loved BlackBerry. Underneath... Read More

Life with Android – Day 1

Android has grown over the years proving to be a very popular smartphones solution. We now have several choices when it comes to smartphones. Depending on the requirements there is no clear cut wrong or right answer, it is a matter of choosing what works best for your use case. Some prefer simple interfaces with less customization while others don’t mind sacrificing user experience to gain more customization. In the end forget the hype, forget... Read More

Trying out life with Android

As many of you know I typically use a BlackBerry device to manage the business side of my life. From email, contacts, calendar, and task management I have relied on BlackBerry for the simple reason that it works well and is trouble free. I will be the first to admit that there is a gap that BlackBerry cannot fill. When it comes to media, being consumption or production, BlackBerry is usually my last choice. For this very reason I carry a second phone,... Read More

Apple passes RIM to become fourth largest phone vendor

Many know I’m a big BlackBerry supporter simply for the reason that the BlackBerry OS platform is stable and provides the best email solution available, at least in my opinion. The problem is people don’t just want email anymore. Applications and media are playing a huge role in the decision making process of mobile phone consumers. When you go to the store shopping for a new phone which would you choose, a phone with a qwerty keyboard... Read More

BlackBerry, Android and where iOS fits for me

As a BlackBerry user I fully understand where Taylor is coming from. Unlike Taylor I gave up on Blackberry around 4 years ago to move to the Symbian platform as my primary device. At the time BlackBerry didn’t have cameras on their phones and the software selection was limited and not overly impressive. I needed great email support however I was willing to sacrifice that for one that would suffice until something better came along. To make... Read More

Does RIM have a future with you?

RIM has had a strong hold of the business market for some time now. In the recent years a surge has been made to push BlackBerry into the consumers way of life. Most would agree that email on the BlackBerry platform remains to be the standard by which all other platforms live up to. The fact is consumers, as well as business users, want more when using smartphones than just push email. Does “is there an app for that” ring a bell? The... Read More

Blackberry Roots Grow Deep

For many of us the first smartphone we owned was either a S60 or Blackberry. For the business users that demanded real time email there was no other option than the Blackberry. For those that demanded a more fully rounded operating system that excelled in media production and full web browsing on a mobile you were a S60 user. Times have changed and so have preferences towards how we setup and use our phones. I was a an avid Blackberry fan for close... Read More

Blackberry OS gets a slight facelift with v.6

Blackberry hears its users and moves towards an “all new” user interface. It has a hint of old school Blackberry look and feel to it with a dabble of salt and pepper but I wouldn’t call it an all new look and feel. To me this is more of an enhancement but either way it’s a very welcome addition to the Blackberry platform. What do you think? Is this what you have been waiting for or are you disappointed? The gates are open.  Read More
